large extended family who often just pop in, Peggy Loundy

craved a place to drop out. She and her husband, Mike,

built the shed on their Ocean County, New Jersey,

property to store the girls’ boating equipment, but Peggy

has slowly claimed it for herself. “It was just too cute,” she

says, “so I started putting furniture in here. It eventually

evolved into my spot.” An avid shopper who loves the hunt,

Peggy put things in the shed as she found them, creating

the cozy atmosphere over time. “It’s my special place, but

it’s not a place where I escape and hide,” she says. Case in

point: The kids have started to use it, too. “It’s a little oasis

for all of

US.”
